UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. When doing this it is essential that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the old handle.

Inline Lever/Lever
A lever/lever handle is a modern door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This kind of handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. This handle is offered by a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The door handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed of durable materials and are ideal for multi point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline, and use the same spindle and screws to fix them. They can be easily mounted on any uPVC/Composite doors.
The handle can be positioned and angled to suit the needs of all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance over time. The lever that is sprung can be cut to fit more locks. This is particularly beneficial for doors with narrower frames, where the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever can also be used on doors that have a latch which can be operated with the thumb on the inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles used on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by a single spindle or by two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a range of finishes & variations.
The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200k cycles and are available in various finishes like White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle the best performance and long-lasting durability for the purpose it was designed for.
All UPVC handle lever pads include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which can be beneficial in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of handles that slide out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.
When choosing the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is important to match the dimensions of the PZ on the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also called 'handle centres' or cylinder centres'. It is important for matching the correct handles.
Once you have the proper PZ size you will then need to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. These are typically of a round or square design with an internal lever and external push pad.

Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are usually used on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of doors. window handles operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body and permitting them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder you choose is crucial. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features that can improve security, for instance anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.
A euro cylinder should be measured accurately to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. If you cannot measure with the lock in position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, therefore it is essential that it is not too long.
Most modern cylinders are made with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. These features are designed to minimize the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to prevent attacks and protect your doors.
Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the lock's break line and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and easier to achieve than opening multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a break-in which can hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is situated inside the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to help return the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after using. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disconnected. The addition of this simple element is among the most effective ways to fix this, and is an excellent way to stop your upvc doors from getting stuck in either closed or open position, since they aren't always easy to manually close by hand.
The spring cassettes were made to be used with sprung multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that are not sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are fitted with a square cut-out that accommodates an 8mm spindle and are available in a variety of.
These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution to the problem of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to install and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
